Aviation museum

Canadian Aviation Museum at Rockliffe, Ontario (CYRO) Beautiful site east of Ottawa on the edge of a cliff made of rocks. Right next door is the RCMP Musical Ride stables too.

Thought this was just a cool looking logo deserving of a shot. Nice silver colours right at the main entrance of the museum at the start of the Air Force display.

World War 1 fighters, its amazing guys with 20 hrs or so went to war in these things. Times and aerospace tech have changed a tiny bit since then.

Cutaway of a jet engine on display. Every flight school needs something like this to show students what it really looks like. They have also painted the areas to show the burner can where the air is hot and cold. Very cool looking engine.

Thanks for the museum pics. One more ticket I have to punch sometime in the future!

The photo of the cutaway Jet engine reminded me:
They have a similar cutaway of a 27 cylinder radial engine at the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, Florida. Supercharged and Intercooled, 3,600 cubic inches....how did mechanics ever keep all the cylinders poppin' on such a monster? The Jet engine LOOKS complicated, but it really isn't: suck, compress, add fuel, ignite, blow.
The big radial would have had to be tuned to the leanest cylinder of 27.
We've come a long way.

Thanks for the comments Greybeard !

3,600 cubic inch piston engine ? Turbines are a bunch of panzies when it comes to that type of engineering !

thanks for the comments, next time I am down in Florida would love to get to that museum you speak of.

Cheers
