Country of Quebec

Can someone explain to me what Quebec really wants ? I don't understand their arguement about being a distinct society and demanding their own nationality. Any Quebecers care to comment ? Since having two referendums and well Quebec is still here isn't this issue a dead one ?
Now that the Prime Minister is actually talking about recognizing Quebec as a nation within a united Canada the leader of the Bloc Quebecois is saying its a smoke screen.

What would Quebec do if they were a nation ? Will all the business's like Bombardier pull the pin and move to Toronto to keep getting corporate welfare ?

"Stephen Harper is trying to fool people into accepting a definition of the Quebec nation that would deny the province’s fundamental right to self-determination"
Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe

The Canadian identity forms part of the Quebec identity . . . Quebecers are fed up with this debate. They want respect for the Quebec nationality and also for their participation in this country, the best country in the world.”
Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe

Your thoughts ?

As a former Quebecer (now Albertan), I have no patience for Quebec politics. Quebec is already a distinct society, and has many different laws and rules than the rest of the country. I think it should be a dead issue, and am amazed that the PM is attempting to deal with the issue head on. He won't get anywhere.

In my opinion, Quebec wants to have their cake and eat it too. Not possible. I say go ahead, let them separate, but they have to form an entirely new country, with their own money, postal service, military service and government. With no help from the rest of us. There's a reason they don't ask for that - they know it won't work. So they keep pushing for "distinct". Well, they already are.

I'm quite happy not to live there anymore. I do miss my family though.

Are you asking what Quebec really wants, or what the Bloc really wants? The answer is easy for the Bloc: like any political party, they want to be reelected.
